Eurocom Europe Log Lift championship 2009

At 16:00 on 21 November 2009, the European Log Lifting Championship EUROCOM took place at Kaunas “Akropolis”. Strongmen were cheered by numerous audience.

In the European Log Lifting Championship of this year, 10 European athletes competed. Lithuania was represented by Zydrunas Savickas, the record-holder of the World Log Lifting Championship (the record was set on 16 November 2008 in Vilnius, 210 kg), Vidas Blekaitis and Saulius Brusokas. Neighbouring Latvia was represented by the champion Agris Kazelniks, Marek Leitis and Dainis Zageris. The competition was also attended by the Russian representative Aleksandr Mantserov, Estonian representative Markus Menick, Serbian champion Erwin Katona and Polish representative Krzysztof Radzikowski.

The sportsmen having taken the first five places won the right to participate in the World Log Lifting Championship of next year. During the show, the World Record was improved (212.50 kg). (Recently, Zydrunas Savickas has been improving log lifting records each year practically: in 2004, 188 kg (Ukraine); in 2005, 200 kg (Hungary); in 2005, 202.50 kg (Latvia); in 2006, 205 kg; in 2008, 207.50 kg (Holland); in 2008, 210 kg (Lithuania)).
